Harmony Day Celebration Friday 21 March

Harmony Day is a day of cultural respect for everyone who calls Australia home - from the traditional owners of this land to those who have come from many countries around the world. By participating in Harmony Day activities, we can learn and understand how all Australians from diverse backgrounds equally belong to this nation and enrich it.

Lots of different cooking experiences and dressing up into clothes from different cultures resulted in another successful Harmony Day at Mirambeena. Many staff adorned themselves in different clothing and Zai shared some of her child sized clothes from her home with some of the children in the Butterflies’ room. Henna painting on hands was also undertaken and the African drums were again in action.

So, Harmony Day was a feast for the senses again at the centre; African music playing, beautifully dressed participants in clothes from India, Bangladesh, Laos, Nepal and China as well as the tasting of deliciously cooked food.

We thank those for joining in the harmonious spirit of the day :)
